Alran
Mazamet, France
More than a century of French leatherworking.
Founded by David Alran in Mazamet in 1903, Alran began tanning sheep and goat hides for the French footwear industry. Over generations, the tannery developed a particular expertise in goatskin, eventually extending its work to leather goods, fine crafts and traditional bookbinding. Today, Alran continues its work in the Montagne Noire, preserving knowledge and techniques passed down through generations.
This edition is bound in Chèvre Liégée Main, a vegetable-tanned, aniline goatskin made specifically in the tradition of French bookbinding. Each hide is boarded by hand to develop its rounded natural grain while retaining a supple feel.
